Moving from RateYourMusic
Bring every rating and review with you. Exporting takes a minute; sleeves does the matching.
- On your RateYourMusic profile, follow the export link and download your ratings as a CSV file. Include reviews if you want them as notes.
- Upload the file to sleeves. Ratings out of ten become half stars.
- Each album is matched against MusicBrainz in the background, about a second each, so a thousand ratings take around twenty minutes. You can close the page. Reviews become notes and dates are kept. Anything that cannot be matched is listed so you can find it by hand.

What carries over
- Half-star scores, from 1 to 5. A half-star rating on RateYourMusic comes over as 1.
- Reviews, kept as notes on each listen.
- Lists, numbered as a ranking if you like, with a note on each album. A Top Four on your profile, following, and blocking.
What is different
- No ads and no captchas. A score saves in one tap.
- Made for phones. Add sleeves to your home screen from your browser's share menu and it opens like an app.
- For you and taste match are built from your own scores and the people you follow, not a sitewide chart.
- Critics' scores sit beside people's on every album.
- Your diary downloads as a CSV from Settings whenever you want it.
What sleeves does not have yet
- The catalog comes from MusicBrainz. Very obscure or physical-only releases can be missing; you can add them to MusicBrainz and they show up here.
- Genres are MusicBrainz tags rather than voted genres, and moods are a short list you vote on with a tap, not open descriptors.
- Scores for single tracks. You can mark your favourite tracks on an album with a heart, and the most loved ones are charted.
